Status Scientific's Mentor Multipurpose PGD2

The Mentor Multipurpose PGD2 can be used for standard gas detection, nitrogen gas purging and BioGas analysis. It is certified intrinsically safe to both current European & American standards.

Here is a breakdown of the three gas monitoring functions:

1. Standard gas detection usage (Methane, Oxygen). This instrument can be used as a standard PGD2 instrument in normal atmospheres.

2. The purging of tanks with Nitrogen for safe entry (Methane in Nitrogen below 1% volume and Oxygen below 0.5% volume).
- Vessels that have contained flammable gases are often purged with nitrogen to remove any flammable mixture. Detectors sensitive to low concentrations of methane and oxygen are used to ensure that the purge process is complete.
- When this process is complete and the vessel is open to air the oxygen level must be monitored before and during work in the vessel. On completion of work in the vessel, it is purged with nitrogen to exclude all oxygen before refilling.
- The Status Scientific Controls Mentor PGD2 triple purpose instrument is ideal for this application.

3. The measurement of BioGas (methane in Carbon Dioxide by volume) & Oxygen.
- This is the ideal instrument for measurement of the methane content in BioGas by volume. The balance gas is carbon dioxide with a small level of oxygen. If the oxygen and methane are subtracted from one hundred (F.S.D.) the balance is carbon dioxide.
- The Status Scientific Controls Mentor PGD2 triple purpose instrument is designed to assist in the control and the disposal or use of BioGas. Whether the methane and carbon dioxide mixture is burnt to heat plant and buildings or to provide electrical power, it is necessary to monitor the ratio of the two gases before combustion. The scaling for methane balance carbon dioxide is automatically adjusted to give correct readings.
